Red gum honey is a lovely, lightly flavoured, and sweet-tasting native Australian eucalyptus honey.
So its suitable for all traditional honey uses and sure to be loved by all the family.
The children will like it on their cereal or sandwiches, grandparents in their tea or coffee, and mum and dad when they cook up a storm in the kitchen
The honey gets its name from the redgum trees where the bees harvested the nectar.
(Growing on the banks of the Yanko Creek in the Southern riverina region of New South Wales, the latin name for these red gum trees is Eucalyptus Camaldulensis)
This is raw honey, because it has been extracted cold, and bottled without any heating or processing.
So it still contains all the pollen, bees wax and other goodies that are normally filtered out in supermarket honey.
Indeed this particular batch is chock-full of pollen.
The pollen is sitting on top of the honey and is a good centimetre or two thick.
Its there as a result of the honey 'settling', after harvesting.
Or in other words, the pollen has precipitated on top of the honey in the days after it was bottled.
If the honey was filtered through a fine sieve, as commercial honeys usually are, there would be relatively little pollen visible in the jar.
But, because this is absolutely raw unfiltered honey, the nutritious pollen has been kept in the honey.
This is a 1kg honey package bottled in a recyclable glass jar with a metal, screw-on lid.

Also available in a 500gms jar.
